Mere “Sister” ka Dulha

The next 2 days were spent in an almost surreal trance: Vicky, who already had turned Cutlet into a brother, won over both Kuggie and Kid as well. All three agreed, that their “brother” clearly didn’t deserve this gem of a girl, their new “sister”! Calls from STUDD, who was camped in Arambol were ignored from that point onwards. The group tried convincing their new sister, that this was a lost cause: STUDD was not worthy of her. But love can be a strange thing indeed, and usually prefers to ignore logic and common sense. Tears welled up in her eyes on hearing the ugly truth, and the group stopped their sermonizing to console “sis”. And once she found out that STUDD was just a couple of hours away in Arambol, she insisted on riding out immediately to meet her Handsome prince who had turned into a pig. This was clearly a woman in love, and few can find it in them to argue with that stumper!

The moment STUDD found out that the group was heading for Arambol, but bringing Vicky along instead of dumping her on the way, he proceeded to take off from there as well, heading for his home town Kanpur via Pune. So even as the group reached Arambol, STUDD was riding back to Pune enroute to Kanpur. By now, Vicky had realized the futility of chasing a mirage and tearfully comes to terms with reality. Her new brothers lend her ample support, and she even spends 2 days at Kuggies house in Pune before making her way home! This story could have ended here, but there was to be a further twist in the tale. :)

After initially coming to terms with her loss in love, Vicky starts relapsing soon after her return to Tashkent. Convincing her reluctant parents, she manages to locate STUDD’s address with a little help from her “brothers”, and on one day in August, lands up with her parents at his house in Kanpur! This time there was no warning! STUDD was away in his “boutique” when his parents receive this stunning visit. Ofcourse they are not aware of what their son had done, but they were soon bought upto date! Within an hour however, both sets of parents (and STUDD’s real sister) were onboard: Vicky would make a good wife for her good-for-nothing brother! The real sister, leaves with Vicky for the boutique to give our STUDD the nastiest shock of his life! :)

Needless to say, the pansy STUDD was not about to give up on his freedom just yet and comes up with ready excuses. Thankfully, this helps break the spell on Vicky who leaves: this time for good. The existence of the brotherhood itself remained tenuous, coming to an inglorious end when STUDD told the group a year later on another group ride through Central India, that Vicky was not fit to be a wife since she had after all given him a BJ! Needless to say, Vicky’s “brothers” wouldn’t bear to hear such enlightened thoughts! And thus the pact of the gang of four, to ride every year to Goa came to an inglorious end! As did the brotherhood itself.

People who are in the know, often point to this story to prove how the presence of women results in trouble within bike groups. To those I would say, that it is the nature of men that causes the friction not necessarily any willful action of the woman.

Postscript: Kid is now riding superbikes in a foreign country, and today treats his bullet years as a growing up phase perhaps best forgotten. Cutlet and Kuggie still ride to Goa: often more than once a year: staying in almost the same place in Goa as they did years back when the brotherhood was first born. Vicky joins them sometimes along with her husband and kids. She has found nirvana! STUDD meanwhile is content as well living the “Down Low” (that’s right) in his native town: making a living smuggling in clothes from sweat shops in Bangkok.

He is still alone.
